Solution Generation Methods I

We describe some of the mathematical techniques lying behind the generation of exact solutions of the five-dimensional stationary and axisymmetric Einstein equations in vacuum. In this chapter we focus on the Bäcklund transformations and demonstrate how we can use them for the construction of explicit solutions in an algebraic way. A range of black hole solutions presented in the previous chapter are derived systematically and in detail.
