Designing a Secure Oil and Gas Supply Chain System with Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) Enabled Blockchain
摘要
The oil and gas supply chain system helps to deliver the product from its source of origin to the end consumer. It includes multiple stages for efficient flow of the product, including exploration, drilling, extraction, transportation, refining, distribution, and retail. With each stage, a huge amount of data is generated. Traditional data storage is based on centralized storage which often struggles to handle the volume, data security, lack of data, access control and accessibility requirements that lead to inefficiencies and alteration or modification. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a blockchain based architecture that encrypts the supply chain data with Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) and stores in the Inter Planetary File System (IPFS) which is a peer-to-peer, distributed, and decentralized storage technology. The proposed work is implemented with Hyperledger Fabric framework which is a permissioned blockchain framework. IPFS is used to store the encrypted data generated in phases of the oil and gas supply chain to deal with huge amounts of data storage problems and offers benefits such as data redundancy and fault tolerance. Hyperledger Fabric is used to store the hash value of IPFS. The integrity of the original generated supply chain data is efficiently verified with our model. The proposed scheme also provides features such as immutability, traceability, and transparency. This proposed approach represents a significant step towards modernizing and optimizing supply chain management with several advantages such as data security, privacy, traceability, and transparency.
