Assembling the Cast

Continuing to work chronologically through the production process, this chapter highlights the period in which actors audition, roles are offered, and the cast is formed. Attention is paid to creating an inclusive and accessible environment at both auditions and callbacks, including using an ASL script and working with interpreters. There is a section on what to do if a deaf actor arrives unexpectedly at auditions. The chapter also includes advice, insights, and strategies for hearing actors working with deaf peers.
