Principles and Applications of Photoacoustic Computed Tomography

In this chapter, we will introduce photoacoustic computed tomography (PACT). A brief history and rationale for doing PACT. In Sect. 2.2, we will describe the different types of PACT systems according to the ultrasound transducer used for imaging. Finally, we will discuss various applications of PACT for pre-clinical small animal imaging and clinical human imaging in Sect. 2.3. In conclusion, we will discuss future developments.
