摘要

The aim of this chapter is to explore if a gender perspective can affect the implementation process of housing reconstruction projects in less developed countries (LDC) to better fit the end-user’s needs. Currently, the existing aid system is embedded in a top-down and very patriarchal approach that especially affects the most vulnerable groups, such as women. Using a case study in Burundi, and data from a survey with female practitioners, this chapter aims to explore both ends of aid. To do so, we propose gender-focused parameters of assessment that can be used as a tool to incorporate gender considerations to housing reconstruction projects and ensure they meet end-user’s needs.
