摘要

The route of administration of corticosteroids in idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL) has been mainly systemic: the oral route, in most cases, and the intravenous route, in certain patients with severe ISSNHL, or in countries such as Japan or Germany, whose protocols so establish [1–5]. However, some patients cannot tolerate the associated side effects of systemic corticosteroids (SCS) and at least 30–50% of patients treated with SCS do not respond to treatment and require salvage treatment.
