Designing Governance

  • Jim Dator

摘要

The next several chapters are about governance design with the aim of developing a design fit for a dream society. This chapter describes the major features of the US Constitution that was created in haste by a few property-owning males for their small, decentralized, agricultural (pre-industrial) society—and yet is still ruling today. I identify nine design challenges facing the original founders, and their solutions to those challenges. All of those solutions encumber current generations with very heavy disabilities, preventing democratic governance, especially of a dream society.
