Donald Trump as a Dream Society Paragon
摘要
Finally, at long last, we get to the core chapter in this book that considers Trump as an exemplar of a dream society dreamweaver. Everything in the book so far has been leading up to this moment. Indeed, it was the realization that Trump was a paragon of a dream society that caused me to see that a dream society was not all singing and dancing K-Pop. Hallyu was simply my introduction to the concept. But like all “societies”, it had many facets, some of which some people considered to be “bad” and others “good”, while other people believed the vice is versa. So, I set out to research and write about everything I have displayed here so far that led me to understand that the world is shifting from an information society to a dream society; that Trump is best understood as an exemplar of that shift; and that you and I should best accept the transformation that he exemplifies. This chapter looks at various features Trump displays as well as various interpretations that have been given to explain Trump’s behavior which is both very different from that of most politicians and yet very much in a traditional mold. That is one clue as to why he should not to be taken literally, but must be taken seriously. He means what he says but often doesn’t say what he means. He is a performer, a serious comedian with a very seductive schtick. And while he is one of the best, he is by no means alone. At the end of the chapter I briefly consider several people who are also dreamweavers—or at least wannabees.
