A Study on the Derivation of Digital Citizenship Components and the Development of Educational Curriculum

Digital citizenship consists of a knowledge area based on a basic understanding of the digital society, a functional area including digital utilization and thinking ability, and a value and attitude area for correct participation in the digital society. This study aims to derive the concept of digital citizenship and the components of digital citizenship education through literature research and in-depth interviews with experts. The draft digital citizenship curriculum first selected 21 topics under three categories of knowledge, function, value, and attitude through literature research. The researchers conducted the first expert interview on the appropriateness and validity of 21 topics and content elements, and teaching and learning programs. Experts presented various opinions on the revision and integration of digital citizenship-related topics and content elements for each topic as researchers related to digital citizenship and instructors at civic universities. As a result, 10 topics were selected from 21 topics, and a digital citizenship curriculum revision was developed based on these 10 topics. Afterwards, through the second expert interview, opinions on the digital citizenship curriculum module, content element modification, teaching and learning methods, and application of the curriculum were collected and reflected in the final draft of the digital citizenship curriculum.
