Looking Back on a 16-Year Academic/Community Partnership

This chapter describes a 16-year academic/community partnership between a professor of nursing and cancer patient navigator. The authors are both Registered Nurses, the first is a patient navigation manager at Duke Healthcare Systems and past president of Sisters Network Triangle, Inc., the second a tenured Professor at the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. They share their stories of the beginnings of a collaboration and ways in which this collaboration has been maintained.
