Bie-Modernism Cultural Computing of Literary Works of “Three Musketeers of Tie Xi” Based on the Pre-trained Dialogue Models ChatGLM3
摘要
Contemporary China has accelerated its embrace of capitalism and modernization following its Reform and Opening Up. This process has given Chinese society a unique Bie-modern Condition, i.e., a mixed social system of pre-modernity, modernity, and post-modernity. Bie-modernism is a systematic theory based on this. The theory is constructed with the aim of helping the social subject to accomplish the transcendence of Bie-modernity in order to enable full-fledged modernity. Bie-modernism Cultural Computing is an emerging intersectional theory that refers to Bie-modernism theory’s use of computer science, artificial intelligence, and other scientific tools to enter into the study of the cultural field in the hope of reaching its theoretical goals through the methods of cultural computing. In this paper, a total of 46 fiction texts by well-known young Chinese writers Shuang Xuetao, Ban Yu, and Zheng Zhi are taken as the objects of study. In the mid-to-late 1990s, an unprecedented and far-reaching wave of layoffs occurred in Northeast China, resulting in dramatic changes in the lives of nearly 10 million people. These three writers not only grew up in this environment, but also turned their pens to it when they became writers: they quickly gained fame for their brilliant depictions of the experiences and emotions of the people who lived in it. They were named the “Tiexi Three Musketeers” and were regarded by the media as a sign of the “Northeast Renaissance”. At the same time, they were also recognized by many critics as the rising “New Northeast Writers Group”. In the view of Bie-modernism, because of its significant Bie-modernity, this particular period and the social environment it created can actually be described as a Bie-modern Condition. In the theoretical hypothesis of Bie-modernism, then, the literary works of these three authors would reflect the Bie-modern Condition to some extent. Based on the method of Bie-modernism cultural calculation, this thesis will use the pre-trained dialogue models ChatGLM3 to calculate the percentage of pre-modernity, modernity and post-modernity in the research subjects. This project can be considered as a text classification task for pre-modernity, modernity and post-modernity. And it specifically uses P-Tuning v2 for Prompt Tuning of ChatGLM3-6B. Finally, the model is made to understand the difference between the three feature values and output the classification results in a canonical format. This paper will further find the common features of Shuang Xuetao’s, Ban Yu’s, and Zheng Zhi’s works through percentage analysis, verify the accuracy of the above hypothesis, and make literary criticism. In addition, in the course of the implementation of the study, the theoretical content, the horizons involved and the specific methodology of the Bie-modernism Cultural Computing will be further updated.
