Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Textile Fiber Producer Companies and a Case Study: Polyteks Tekstil Fiber Production Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Studies
摘要
Businesses that practice corporate social responsibility (CSR) make a deliberate effort to perform their operations and applications in a way that improves society and protects the ecology. Programs for corporate social responsibility are designed to provide a structure to an organization’s charitable endeavors, community service, and creation of positive social value. Corporate social responsibility encompasses working conditions, social programs, and environmental impacts, as well as many target-focused areas of activity. The textile and fashion sector, one of the largest sectors in our planet, pushes the limits of natural resource use with its low-cost structure that encourages mass production and consumerism. One of the most important actors of the textile and fashion industry is textile fiber producers. Textile fiber manufacturers make great efforts to produce many different fibers and create fibers with new properties to meet the world’s fiber needs and consumers’ desires. Apart from these valuable manufacturing efforts, textile fiber producers and textile and fashion companies in many different parts of the world carry out many different projects and efforts regarding corporate social responsibility. In this book chapter, first, corporate social responsibility is introduced in general terms. Afterward, corporate social responsibility in textile fiber producer companies is examined and reviewed. Finally, a case study about Polyteks Tekstil fiber production company’s corporate social responsibility studies and applications is reported.
