Experience Design Assisted in Improving the Efficiency of Adolescent Invisible Orthodontic Treatment

Malocclusion is a prevalent oral condition that typically necessitates orthodontic treatment to adjust the arrangement of teeth. Among orthodontic patients, the majority are adolescents, and nowadays, adolescents increasingly prefer opting for invisible orthodontics. During invisible orthodontic treatment, the patient’s user experience often influences the treatment outcomes. However, current research on the design of user experiences for invisible orthodontics in non-clinical settings remains relatively scarce. Therefore, this study aims to apply the Double Diamond Model to propose an experience design solution that effectively enhances orthodontic outcomes. In the Discover and Define stage of the Double Diamond model, this research delved into the challenges and obstacles adolescents face in invisible orthodontic treatment, explicitly defining the core issue: adolescents struggle with self-discipline in wearing orthodontic braces during treatment. Subsequently, in the Develop and Deliver phases, this study explored design solutions to address the core problem, ultimately devising a digital orthodontic treatment system and an old orthodontic brace recycling system. This study provides a novel approach to user experience design for adolescents undergoing invisible orthodontic treatment in non-clinical environments.
