摘要

The surging prevalence of diabetes, attributed to sedentary lifestyles and poor dietary choices, has precipitated a global health crisis marked by a substantial increase in overweight individuals. The incorporation of blood glucose meters for diabetes management is impeded by multifaceted challenges, including complexities in usage procedures, concerns regarding the hygiene of test strip retrieval, and storage issues. In this study, the primary emphasis is placed on the development of a finger-prick blood glucose meter featuring an embedded test strip vial that aims to improve user convenience and ensure the sanitary retrieval of test strips. A user study was conducted, engaging 30 participants, with a balanced distribution across genders and a lack of prior experience in using blood glucose meters. The study aimed to assess the efficiency and user experience of the designated product in comparison to two commercially available alternatives. The results show the superiority of the proposed blood glucose meter, with shorter task times, a reduced number of procedural steps, and a flawless error record. These findings support the improved efficiency and reliability of the designated product, fundamentally elevating the user experience and setting the stage for future advancements in medical device design.
