Research on Interface Optimization of Mobile Shopping APP for the Elderly Based on Improved FMEA

The purpose of this study is to improve the satisfaction of elderly user with the interface of mobile shopping apps and optimize the user experience. Firstly, the confusion and problems of the elderly when using mobile shopping APP were understood through interview and observation method, and the potential failure mode was found by using improved FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), and the causes and consequences of the potential failure mode were analyzed. Then, a questionnaire survey was conducted to record severity (S), occurrence (O), and detection (D) ratings of relevant potential failure modes, and calculate the ERPN index to identify areas that require improvement. Finally, according to the identified problem points, the feasible suggestions for interface optimization are proposed. Taking the elder mode of Taobao APP as an example, by using the improved FMEA analysis method to find out the problems caused by the elderly when applying the interactive interface and put forward suggestions for improvement, it can not only provide a reference for the future design of such interactive interface, but also optimize the user experience of the elderly and improve their satisfaction.
