摘要

The designing of inclusive and immersive user interfaces (UIs) for virtual and augmented reality (VR, AR) systems is critical for providing a comfortable and efficient experience for all users and remains a challenge for the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) community. This task is challenged by two key factors typically unknown at design time: 1) the context of use; and 2) the capabilities and attributes of the user. In this paper, we first use techniques from design engineering to systematically investigate the design parameters that dominate user performance and comfort when interacting with UI layouts. Second, we introduce LimberUI: a novel model-based 3D UI layout design toolkit that can create layouts that accommodate the context of deployment as well as the unique perceptual, cognitive, and physical capabilities of the user.
