摘要

In this study, we explore the factors influencing the generation of haptic feedback during interactions with virtual objects using a rod-shaped tool within a virtual reality environment. Previously, we introduced a haptic feedback method involving a string-based haptic feedback device attached to a VR controller rather than utilizing a physical tool. In an experiment comparing a scenario where the device is attached to a real tool with our proposed method, it was confirmed that when the length of the tool is shorter than 50 cm, our method, without the physical tool, can provide haptic feedback which is equivalent to using the real tool. However, the interaction between force presentation from the device and visual information in the virtual reality environment in forming the haptic feedback remains unclear. Therefore, this study investigates the individual and combined effects of visual information and force feedback on the tactile experience of interacting with objects using tools in virtual reality. Our findings suggest that although visual information significantly influences the experience, integrating it with the restraint imposed by the haptic device can enhance the haptic feedback.
