Assertiveness in the Context of Human Rights, Ethics, and Classical Virtues: Final Reflections

Emerging and developing countries face numerous challenges regarding human rights protection, promotion, and exercise, which lead to communities where assertiveness is not encouraged. Contemporary societies require new development models conducive to resilience, sustainability, and social well-being. One way to achieve such social well-being is by addressing the complex and intertwined interactions among culturally diverse people whose backgrounds and origins are complex and multi-faceted. To effectively manage these interactions, we should begin by educating in assertiveness as a human right and as the ethical behaviour and communication style that paves the way for promoting a culture of respect, equity, justice, and peace, where inclusion and diversity are stimulated. Throughout its 12 chapters and using a mixed-methods approach, this interdisciplinary edited collection has provided a comprehensive understanding and analysis of assertiveness rights and how assertiveness can be cultivated as a human right in the context of emerging and developing countries so that these studies can help researchers, scholars, governments, and the people build societies based on ethics, virtues, and cultures grounded in human rights.
