Pressure Necrosis in Geriatric Patients
摘要
The elderly remains one of the highest at-risk groups for pressure ulcers/injuries. Pressure ulcers form due to the intensity and duration of pressure; high intensity leads to deep tissue pressure injury (DTPI). DTPI pressure necrosis appears as purple or maroon tissue in tissue subjected to pressure and therefore is not always on a bony prominence. Prevention is focused on reducing the duration and magnitude of pressure. Treatment includes topical wound care including debridement, nutrition, and pressure relief on the damaged tissue.
