Spatial Interpolation Methods

Interpolation methods that use information from sites other than the base site for the estimation of missing data are referred to as spatial interpolation methods. The base site refers to the site with missing data, as indicated in the previous chapters of this book. This chapter will focus on spatial interpolation methods that use deterministic and stochastic frameworks to estimate missing data at one or multiple sites. Spatial interpolation methods are appropriate when temporal autocorrelation of data at base site is weak and additional observations at other sites are available.
