IoT-Enabled Smart Restaurant Management System
摘要
The restaurants have several operational features such as taking online/offline customer orders, staff and resource management, fire prevention, and safety. Due to recurring costs, an exhaustive installation process, regular maintenance, and a lack of technically skilled personnel, many restaurants are not able to comply with these tasks completely, thus resulting in opting for only customer management tasks and overlooking other features. This article reviews existing systems designed for such purposes and presents the implementation of a more comprehensive and independent Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart restaurant management system. The proposed system integrates a personalized and efficient food ordering system with a reliable and responsive fire management system that functions even in the absence of Internet connectivity. The system has been successfully tested for responsiveness, with an average response time of 0.5 s for the latency-sensitive fire management system. The system is also fault-tolerant against hardware and network errors and has minimal set up and maintenance costs.
