Renewable Energies for Sustainable Economic Growth
摘要
The objective of this study is to thoroughly analyze the effect of various factors linked to the growth of renewable energies on sustainable development in Algeria. This empirical research covers a period of 16 years, thus offering a long-term and robust analysis. In order to achieve its goal, the study focuses on identifying and quantifying the economic, social, and environmental factors that influence the development of renewable energies. These factors include direct and foreign investments, renewable energy-based electricity production, and electricity consumption for instance. The study relies on a multiple regression model to test the effect of different explanatory variables on sustainable development. The results obtained confirm that renewable energies have a positive and significant impact on Algeria’s economic growth. Renewable energies thus appear as an essential lever for achieving sustainable development by harmonizing economic growth, social equity, and environmental protection.
