Monitoring Design Proposals for Aquatic Therapy Linked to Industry 4.0

This chapter refers to a design project that combines aquatic therapy with industry 4.0 technology. The aim of the project is to use cutting edge technology to improve the effectiveness of aquatic therapy. In this context, monitoring follow-up refers to the collection and evaluation of real-time information about the patient's performance during aquatic therapy (Antúnez et al. 2011). This can be done using sensors and electronic devices integrated into the therapy equipment. For therapists working in an aquatic environment, the data collected can be useful for identifying patient progress, potential problems and the need to modify the therapy program. Linkage to industry 4.0 suggests that aquatic therapy could use advanced technology. Automation systems, artificial intelligence and data analytics could be used to improve the aquatic therapy process. The design concept could include the use of robotics to assist in therapy, virtual reality devices to enhance the patient experience, and real-time patient health tracking and monitoring technologies to reduce discomfort and speed recovery for aquatic therapy patients (Sección de la Terapia Física Acuática de la Asociación Estadounidense).
