Study of the Optimization of a Dental Articulator System

In this chapter, the importance of performing surgeries with the appropriate instruments, the requirements to ensure safe procedures is considered. The surgical planning is another important factor; in this stage, everything necessary for the surgery is developed. In the case of an orthognathic surgery, the use of a dental articulator is required, that is intended to assist surgeons in the development of surgical guides. The precision of these guides led to the development of a prototype that complements the dental articulator and allows the creation of guides with a higher degree of accuracy. The prototype that was developed lacked several requirements that the surgeons did not contemplate originally, which is why in the present investigation an improvement to the design was developed, to optimize the design and satisfy the needs of the end user.
