Attractor Coexistence, Butterfly Effects, and Chaos (ABC): A Review of Lorenz and Generalized Lorenz Models

  • Bo-Wen Shen

摘要

Drawing from recent reviews of Lorenz models spanning the period from 1960 to 2008, we introduce a selection of Lorenz's models to explore several intriguing concepts. These concepts include chaos, the butterfly effect, attractor coexistence, and the phenomenon of intransitivity and almost intransitivity. Looking ahead, potential avenues for future research could involve delving into higher-dimensional models, leveraging advanced computational and sophisticated mathematical techniques, and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations. These endeavors will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding and predictive capabilities concerning the coexistence of chaotic and non-chaotic phenomena, as well as the exploration of regime changes.
