Exploring Preferences for Temporal and Spatial Frame in Navigation Context

摘要

With the development of mobile communication technology and geographic information technology, in-vehicle navigation has become more and more intelligent and convenient, and has become an important aid for people’s daily traveling. It is necessary to study how to make the navigation information more favorable for drivers to understand, and to improve the stability of driving and human-computer interaction experience. Auditory channel reminder is an important transmission channel, which is mainly realized by voice announcement. The information content, i.e., corpus wording, is an important dimension of speech announcing, and most current studies have been conducted from the perspective of wording complexity, with few studies on temporal and spatial information, but in navigation scenarios, spatio-temporal information is one of the key elements constituting human spatial cognition. Existing studies have shown that a given spatial distance can be measured in either spatial or temporal units, and after constant velocity conversion, representing the same distance in spatial and temporal frames is logically equivalent, and although spatio-temporal frame effects affect people’s willingness to travel, there are fewer studies on the impact on driving wayfinding behavior. The findings suggest that different descriptions of spatial choice problems significantly change people’s preference order. The study conducted an information framing study from the perspective of people’s experiential preferences, which has significant potential from the perspective of human-computer co-development. The findings of the study can support the creation of new forms of choice information frames under different conditions to increase the efficacy of human-machine collaboration and improve the user experience.
