Trauma, Somatization, Violence, and Forensics
摘要
Trauma is a pervasive issue that can have profound effects on mental health, manifesting in conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression. PMHNPs must understand the impact of trauma on cognitive, emotional, and social functioning, as well as its relationship to somatization and violence. This chapter explores trauma and trauma-informed care, including the recognition of PTSD symptoms and the differentiation of somatic symptoms and related disorders. Additionally, it covers the assessment and management of violence, including intimate partner violence and sexual assault, and addresses the legal and ethical considerations involved in forensic practice. By recognizing the signs and symptoms of trauma and violence and understanding the principles of trauma-informed care, PMHNPs can better support the mental health and well-being of their patients.
