Roles, Regulations, and Scope of Practice
摘要
Nurse practitioners (NPs) are integral members of the healthcare system, offering patient-centered care across diverse settings. Regulated at state and national levels, NPs adhere to guidelines established by boards of nursing and professional organizations like the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS). Their scope of practice encompasses assessment, diagnosis, management of health conditions, preventive care, and patient education. NPs collaborate with healthcare teams, prescribe medications, and order diagnostic tests within the confines of their education and state regulations. This chapter delves into the multifaceted roles, regulations, and scope of practice of NPs, ensuring adherence to standards while delivering quality care to patients.
