Designing More Accessible Health Services

The University of Chichester opened a new School of Nursing and Allied Health three years ago and is working closely with the Sussex Integrated Care Board (ICB – the local health authority) and designing a new approach to delivering health services across East and West Sussex. The University’s engagement in this process is on multiple levels, including: This paper will explore the underlying rationale for these developments, provide further detail on each of these initiatives and the importance of ensuring universal access to the systems and processes that underpin each of these activities. Central to all of the above is the role of information technology, which is pivotal in the design and delivery of new services as well as facilitating seamless transfer of information across the numerous disparate stakeholders, bodies and agencies that are inevitably involved in the effective operation of an integrated care system.
