Investigating Smart Product Design Elements Through a Conceptual Framework in Healthy Diet Monitoring System for Diabetic Elderly

摘要

The prevalence of diabetes among the elderly has resulted in an increasing demand for high-quality and efficient healthcare services, and smart products have emerged as a promising solution to provide healthy diet interventions for diabetic elderly patients. However, due to age-related declines in cognitive, physical, and sensory capabilities, elderly individuals may be less receptive to new technologies compared to younger generations. To address this issue, this paper investigates the need for healthy diets among diabetic elderly patients, identifies key variables that influence their dietary habits, examines key elements that influence the smart product design for diabetics, and identifies factors that influence their acceptance. The study adopted a four-step method that involved identifying target users, conducting a literature review to investigate key variables, identifying key variables, and developing a conceptual framework. The findings revealed that exercise, BMI (Body Mass Index), and healthy diet attitude are three key variables that influence the dietary habits of diabetic elderly individuals. Additionally, three key design elements: appearance, function, and interface variables, were identified as critical factors that affect the adoption of smart products by older individuals. Other important factors that influence the use and acceptance of smart products among diabetic elderly individuals include perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, perceived safety, and perceived enjoyment. In conclusion, healthy diet needs, healthy diet attitude, function and interface design, perceived ease of use, and perceived usefulness are crucial variables in the final conceptual framework that should be considered in future research when designing smart products for diabetic elderly patients.
