Psoriatic Arthritis

Psoriatic arthritis (PsA) is a complex chronic inflammatory arthropathy that is part of a broader clinical picture, the “psoriatic disease,” a chronic inflammatory disease that involves both the skin and the joints, but which also presents with extra-articular manifestations and comorbidities. The PsA, a disease belonging to the spectrum of spondyloarthritis (PsA), from the articular profile can manifest in heterogeneous clinical pictures with the involvement of the peripheral and/or axial joints with or without enthesitis, dactylitis, and tenosynovitis. The diversity of the clinical presentation mirrors the intricacy of the pathogenesis, which, although partly yet to be fully understood in recent years, is gradually becoming clearer. The emerging pathogenetic insights, along with the recent advancements and evolving therapeutic options, appear to offer optimism for a future approach to inflammation treatment that is increasingly focused, potentially leading to personalized medicine.
