Women’s Access to Mathematical Research in Spain (1868–1936): The State of the Art

This article studies the long and tortuous path that women traveled to be admitted to the field of higher mathematical education and mathematical research in Spain, a topic that different historians of mathematics began to address at the end of the twentieth century and the beginning of the 21st. Although the period 1868–1936 is the most important in the field of research, mathematical activity will be considered in learning, teaching, and research, in order to include the recent results found in the Age of Enlightenment.
