The Experiment Study on EEG Characteristics of Different Personality Errors Under Consequence Stress

In this study, the subjective score, behavioral performance and EEG data of 41 subjects were collected and analyzed under two experimental conditions (no stress and consequence stress). According to the Big Five Personality Scale, the personality characteristics of the subjects were divided into five categories (i.e., Neuroticism, Openness, Conscientiousness, Pleasantness, and Extraversion). It was found that neuroticism personality and pleasantness personality were significantly correlated with stress perception, but neuroticism personality was more sensitive to stress. The higher the level of neuroticism, the higher the subjective questionnaire score. The results of behavioral performance analysis showed that the error rate under the condition of no consequence stress was greater than that under the condition of consequence stress. The results of event-related potential analysis found that Pe was significantly affected by different experimental conditions, and was greater under consequence pressure, while ERN was not significant difference between different experimental conditions. Time-frequency analysis results found that weaker α and β band oscillations were induced under consequence stress. Under the stressful conditions, there was a significant negative correlation between conscientiousness score and α-band energy. In summary, this study showed that the impact of consequence pressure on human error could be characterized by the changes in error-related ERP components and time-frequency characteristic indicators.
