Policy Recommendations for Greece to Provide Energy Independence
摘要
Especially due to the war between Russia and Ukraine, there have been problems in natural gas supply all over the world. European Union countries have also been affected by these problems in a very negative way. Since Greece is a member of the European Union, it has been affected by the energy crisis in a very important way. Therefore, in order for Greece to have energy independence, it needs to determine the right strategies. In this study, it is aimed to determine the most accurate energy independence strategy for Greece. In this framework, four different criteria were determined after the literature review. In order to determine the most important of these factors, an analysis was carried out with the DEMATEL method. It is identified that renewable energy investments and nuclear energy projects play the most significant roles for the energy independence of Greece. It is understood that Greece should give prioritization for renewable energy and nuclear energy investments. However, there are some disadvantages in renewable energy projects. One of the most prominent problems is the high investment cost and the lack of stability in electricity production. Therefore, Greece must first focus on solving these problems.
