摘要

The provision of healthcare has been revolutionized by the development of microfluidic point-of-care (POC) devices as revolutionary tools in medical laboratories. This chapter discusses the various benefits of these devices in the diagnosis of a range of medical conditions. There are three basic types of microfluidic POC devices: PDMS-based, 3D-printed, and paper-based devices, each of which has specific benefits and capabilities. Further, the emphasis on the application of microfluidic POCT (point-of-care testing) devices for infectious diseases and oncological conditions highlights their major influence on early identification and individualized treatment strategies. Besides this, a number of challenges, such as scalability, manufacturing, and regulatory barriers, are also discussed. Finally, the prospects of microfluidic POC devices that show enormous potential for improving medical diagnostics and patient care, paving the way for a brighter future for healthcare delivery, will be briefed.
