Student Competencies Development and Transformation in Technology Integration: A Review from the Perspective of Innovative Teachers

Based on the perspectives of innovative teachersInnovative teachers with experience in technology integrationTechnology integration, this chapter focuses on how teachers integrate technology into their educational processesEducational processes to improve student competenciesStudent competencies, the role of technology in gaining these, and the difficulties encountered in this process within the framework of teacher views. The participants of the study consisted of 18 teachers from different disciplines. In one-to-one interviews with the teachers, they answered questions under four headings created in line with the purpose of the study. As a result of the analysis of these views, four themes emerged. The study results show that teachers emphasize student-centered learning methods and teacher roles. In addition, technology integrationTechnology integration has made significant contributions to supporting learning, improving learning outcomes, and developing digital literacyDigital literacy skills. However, primary barriers such as access and challenges such as lack of adequate technical support and teacher training emerged as the main issues preventing effective technology integrationTechnology integration. In parallel with this finding, there is a widespread perception that effective technology integrationTechnology integration can be achieved through teaching practices in which technology use is the primary purpose. On the other hand, to promote a deeper understanding of the transformative potential of technology integrationTechnology integration, there is a need to adopt advanced perspectives that include a systematic view of educational technologies, the integration of educational technologies with methods and techniques, and active student engagement.
