摘要

At present, there is a paradoxical space wherein consumers and how they communicate is under constant change. Emergency managers (EM), who need special connections to those communication tools, are not considered. Instead, EM professionals are often accused of being a profession disconnected from the current technological reality. This issue is a paradox because it is a problem of technology–old is abandoned for new. In a similar way, tabletop role-playing games (TTRPGs) have been disconnected from game studies for decades though recent work has adjusted this oversight [1]. For researchers, TTRPGs provide context for how to consider systems, data-driven communication, and the role of data, all mental models from computational spaces in an original, or vintage, form. We call those who still play, design, or discuss TTRPGs vintage beings. The present research explores how vintage beings can use the shock of the old to connect younger learners to old tech and older learners to new tech.
