Urban Governance and Climate Action Challenges in Africa
摘要
Africa’s development challenges and prospects depend upon how its governments manage rapid population growth and the newly recognized existential threat from climate change. This chapter explores the potential contribution of local government to the challenges of urban governance and climate action, drawing from the extensive literature on international development and planning, especially by African researchers. It investigates issues of governance at different levels and the rise of human rights in the development agenda, and issues of land governance, access to land and law reform, and SDG 11 on sustainable cities and SDG 13 on climate action.
