Implementation of GA Based Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse Width Modulation for Two Level Three Phase Inverter Using Dspace DS1104

This article showcases the simulation and experimental verification of a three phase inverter, where the implementation of genitic algorithm is employed for selective harmonics elimination pulse width modulation (SHEPWM). The propose of using this modulation strategy is to increase the life span of the switching elements and improve the inverter out put voltage. In this study, we provide a general analytical explanation of the total harmonic distortion and demonstrate the application of GA algorithm for selective harmonic elimination. The effectiveness of the method is showcased by utilizing the digital signal processor based dspace DS1104 environment. The results obtained from the experimentation are closer to that of simulation, which confirms the validity of the implemented algorithm.
