A Specification Based Ids for Detecting Selective-Forwarding Attack in 6lowpan Network for IoT

During the informational evolution and the communication technologies, it seems that a new paradigm is emerged in the world’s technology. It is the internet of things. This paradigm enables to each thing that is been inanimate object or human to take an identity and connected with other entities anytime and anywhere on the internet through the IPV6 networks and 6LoWPAN network. Thus, the latter is remained in risk by several wireless type attacks especially the routing attacks. In order to protect the network against these attacks, the application of intrusion detection systems (IDS) is necessary. Therefore, in this paper we present an intrusion detection system for detecting selective-forwarding attack in the 6LoWPAN network. This IDS enables us to detect and identify the malicious router nodes that launch the selective-forwarding attack. To get this, we consider the group of selected router nodes as a responsible group for the monitoring its preferred parent in each time slot. The alarm message is send by the monitor node when the dropping rate of its preferred parent is greater than a predefined threshold. Meanwhile the root node revokes the malicious node when the alarm messages account that are generated against him are greater than the predefined threshold. The simulation results show the performances of our IDS.
