Analyzing the Generated Power for Different CubeSats Solar Panel Configurations
摘要
This paper presents an analysis study of the generated power for different CubeSat solar panel configurations using the Systems Tool Kit (STK) software. CubeSats are small satellites used for various applications, including scientific research, Earth observation, and communication; they are designed to be cost-effective and quick to manufacture, making them ideal for space missions with limited budgets and short development timelines. Solar panels are an essential component of CubeSats as they provide the necessary power to operate the satellite’s systems, that their configuration affects the amount of power generated which is increasing since the missions are getting more and more sophisticated and complicated. In this study, the performance comparison of different CubeSats with fixed and/or deployable solar panel configurations was evaluated using STK software. The simulation results show that the solar panel configuration significantly affects the generated power, and the optimal configuration depends on the satellite’s orbit and mission requirements. This analysis study can provide valuable insights into the design of CubeSats solar panels systems, contributing to the development of more efficient and reliable CubeSats and optimize their solar power generation to greatly enhance the success of their missions.
