Frequency Characterization of Water Solutions Used in Electrolysis for Production of H2

The paper discusses about characterization of solutions obtained by two methods, the first one is by extraction of samples randomly from water, and the second one is by using solutions obtained after electric discharges applied in water environments. An experimental comparative study was led with methodology in this paper. Water was used with two types: sea water and tap water for measuring impedances and phases in a frequency bandwidth increasing from 20 Hz to 10 MHz. The impedance and the phase were measured with a device which analyzes the impedance (LCR meter), variations of impedances and phases depending on frequency range. It is enlightened that the impedance graph for water before and after electrolysis may be influenced by factors such as electrolyte type and concentration, duration and intensity of electrolysis, and specific experimental conditions. Comparing the impedance graphs before and after electrolysis allows direct comparison of changes induced by the electrolysis process.
