Human Health in the Face of Extreme Weather: An Analysis of Impacts and Implications

Extreme weather events, such as droughts, floods, heatwaves, and storms, are becoming increasingly frequent and severe due to climate change. These events have profound implications for food security, human health and a sustainable environment. This present work is a comprehensive analysis of the impact of extreme weather events on human health. The study investigates the various dimensions of extreme weather events and their cascading effects. It examines the vulnerabilities and risks associated with different types of extreme weather events and evaluates their specific impacts on vector-borne diseases, malnutrition, depression, and lack of interest in personal hygiene. Furthermore, the study explores the socio-economic consequences of these events, including market disruptions, and increased food and health insecurity among vulnerable populations with low income. The findings and recommendations presented in this analysis provide valuable insights for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners in designing effective strategies to mitigate the adverse effects of extreme weather events on human health and build resilient health systems in expected climatic aberrations. Moreover, this is an effort to achieve sustainable goals naming good health (SDG 3), climate change (SDG 13) and life on land (SDG 15).
