The Role of Analytics in Improving Health Outcomes: Are Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) at the Forefront in Social Health Protection?

Rural health analytics is perceived to be a perennial breakthrough to detect and adapt the required changes in response to the service bottlenecks in the rural health sector. The paper walks through the prospective uses of analytics in the healthcare sector to improve health outcomes in rural areas. In the midst of covid pandemic, ASHA has been entrusted the responsibility of social health protection in rural areas. The role of ASHA in covid pandemic preparedness, providing necessary support to the rural populace, maintaining records, and facilitation of treatment has been discussed. The primary data comprised 100 ASHA from the state of Punjab and assessed the avenues for the usage of analytics and its relation to social health protection during covid-19. The paper signifies the importance of health data analytics and mining for covid pandemic which serves the broader aim of social health protection in the testing times. Various analytic strategies in relation to healthcare such as text analytics, speech analytics, patient treatment journey analytics have been discussed to make improvements in rural healthcare sector. The paper impinges to bring forth a revolution for the use of analytics and data mining using the novel concepts of business intelligence to benefit the rural health sector.
