Tree Communication

Many scientists believe that trees communicate with one another, and even with living things that are not trees, including pollinators. Communication is another similarity between trees and humans (or non-human animals). In speculative fiction, and particularly in plant horror, trees may serve as guards for non-vegetal people or entities, implying communication with the person or entity controlling them; alternatively, they may employ a “wood-wide” communication network to coordinate self-defense.
