Introduction: Into the Woods

This book explores humans’ interimplication with trees, as depicted in science fiction, fantasy, folk and fairy tale, and related literature. The forest is often a metaphor, a place where we learn to create a more equitable and just society. Fiction can also move us toward considering new ways of living with more-than-human nature, and perhaps with extraterrestrial life.
