What Is Theory?

In this chapter, we will learn about what is theory? ranging from random and education guesses, research-based predictions to scientific theories and laws, including what makes hard or soft theories. Then we will learn about socio-technical grounded theories as outcomes of a full STGT study, followed by learning about the four genres of theories as broad and high-level theories, broad and in-depth theories, focused and high-level theories, and focused and in-depth theories.
