‘Poverty Wages’ and Repressive Labour Practice in Ethiopia’s Industrial Parks

  • Mohammed Seid Ali

摘要

This chapter discloses the practices of ‘poverty wages’ and labour repression in Ethiopia’s Industrial Parks. In this connection, the chapter demonstrates and explains the poverty wages and suppressive labour practices against workers’ associational rights in selected apparel exporting firms at Ethiopia’s Industrial Parks. The chapter delves into the existing strong business-state alliances and flawed corporate social responsibility of employing firms and their respective global brand buyers as key factors for violating the minimum protections of local industrial workers in the apparel sector.
