Global Apparel Value Chain and Industrial Parks Experience of Late-Industrializing Countries

This chapter provides the global apparel value chain and industrial parks experience of late-industrializing countries in the Global South. Hence, it demonstrates the relocations of global multinational apparel manufacturers and brands from countries of the Global North to those of the Global South. In addition, it highlights the experiences of selected countries of Asia and Africa in expanding industrial parks and special industrial zones to accommodate incoming multinational investments in these labour-intensive and export-oriented apparel sectors. Finally, the chapter highlights the performances of industrial parks in terms of economic and social upgrading in selected emerging apparel exporting countries from Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.
