The Rise of the Technological-Industrial Complex and Education 4.0

This chapter examines the rise of the technological-industrial complextechnological-industrial complex, which is a multifaceted system encompassing a wide range of technological domains and how AI has revolutionized our thinking. It explores the nexus between creative disruptioncreative disruption and disruptive innovationdisruptive innovation and their possibilities for the field of CIE. The linkage between Education 1.0Education 1.0 to 4.0 and Web 1.0Web 1.0 to Web 4.0Web 4.0 is studied in the context of industrial and educational developments. It shows that educational developments are tied to the development and expansion of the Web. It then discusses that CIE was founded as a colonial project and continues to function as such, and in the age of advancement in AI, CIE needs to be decolonized as it enters the Fourth Industrial RevolutionFourth Industrial Revolution. The ways in which AI needs to be decolonized are examined so that it may be provided in a just and equitable way that benefits all of humanity.
